Six week puppy class for puppies between the age of eight-weeks and six-months of age at the start of the class. Each class is one hour long.
There is a key developmental period that begins before most puppies even come to live with their new families and that vital window closes very rapidly as puppies approach adolescence. During this period puppies are most receptive to new things such as strangers, other animals, new environments, being handled, and other daily occurrences. Certain experiences during this time can have an extremely positive effect on adult dog temperament and adaptability. During the six-week class we will cover obedience exercises, as well as teach what should be done to make the most of that early window, while practicing in-class handling, socializing puppies with human and canine classmates, teaching bite-inhibition, and proper puppy to puppy social skills through play. We will also help answer questions about house-breaking and other puppy topics.
The classes are held at your home. Most of the training for this class will be off-leash in an enclosed area when safe to do so, either inside your home or in a securely fenced yard. We will utilize puppies’ own kibble and toys as rewards.**
